Effective as of February 1, 2026, api.video subscriptions will no longer be available to businesses based in the United States (US). This change is due to regulatory and contractual constraints related to US CLOUD Act .

1. Why is api.video no longer available to US businesses?

Entering into contracts with US-based companies requires compliance with the US CLOUD Act, a US federal law that allows US authorities to request access to electronic overseas data under certain very limited conditions.

In this contractual context, US authorities may demand access to computing service providers:

• having a legal presence in the US and/or,

• doing business with the US.

2. Our commitments to data sovereignty and GDPR compliance

The api.video service is operated by OVHcloud OCT1 which guarantees:

• full data sovereignty for its customers,

• strict compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

These guarantees ensure that customer data is protected from US authorities’ requests.

3. What does this mean for new customers?

• effective as of February 1, 2026, US businesses will no longer have access to api.video service subscriptions,

• new subscriptions from US-based companies will be rejected.

4. What does this mean for existing US customers?

• Existing contracts with US businesses affected by this change will terminate end of August 2026.

• This transition period is intended to give impacted customers sufficient time to plan migrations as needed.

5. Who is affected?

This change applies specifically to:

• businesses legally established in the US,

• contracts that require compliance with US federal law.

Non-US businesses are not impacted by this change.
